Members of the public are invited to CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION VIRTUAL PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING State Project No. 0014-0189 Computerized Traffic Signal System (CTSS) Replacement U.S. Route 1 Branford and East Haven Tuesday, August 13, 2024, 6:30 p.m. Register: https://portal.ct.gov/dotbranford0014-0189 YouTube Livestream: http://www.youtube.com/@ctdotofficial The purpose of this meeting is to provide the community an opportunity to learn about the proposed project and allow an open discussion of any views and comments concerning the proposed improvements. A Q&A session will immediately follow the presentation. This state project is located along U.S. Route 1 from Main Street in East Haven (Int. No. 043-208) to Beaver Road in Branford (Int. No. 014-203). This project will provide full replacement of the traffic signal equipment and new fiber optic interconnect at five (5) intersections within the U.S. Route I corridor. The replacement of the computerized traffic signal system (CTSS) will establish reliable fiber optic communication connections between the signalized intersections with wireless communications back to the CTDOT's Newington headquarters and will allow for the implementation of advanced technologies to monitor traffic and reduce travel times. There are right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements. The impacts are minimal around existing signal equipment and sidewalks at project intersections. Construction is anticipated to begin Spring 2026 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $6.190 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
