Essex Property Owners A private developer has submitted a petition to the Essex Planning and Zoning Commission which will amend the Essex Zoning Regulations to allow multi-family development on selected parcels within the Rural Residential Zone which currently restricts de- velopment to single family homes on two acre lots. If adopted, this amendment would significantly alter the character of the Rural Residential Zone and likely have a negative effect on property values of homes near those selected parcels. The Essex Planning and Zoning Commission will be holding a public hearing on this amendment petition on Tuesday, September 5th at the Essex Town Hall at 7:00 PM. On August 1st, more than 100 Essex residents voiced their unanimous disapproval at the previous public hearing.
